TREK BLOG 4/19/17

The time is upon us once again. Trekking Season!

Last year I was sitting with Eric from Thule, in a Himalayan Teahouse located in Thame, Nepal. We were discussing the possibilities of a hot lunch program for the kids there. One short year later we are heading back up the mountain to see it happen.

This would not have been a possibility with out some key people. Thule of Sweden has been the biggest piece of this puzzle. We are grateful everyday for the support they lend to the Apa Sherpa Foundation. They are headed back to Nepal as well to help us celebrate the beginning of the Ghat Lunch program.

Wealth Counsel has been another great support. They have felt the love Apa has for his home country and his yearning to help. They have stepped up to help us make change for the children of Nepal.

Our awesome 2017 Trekking Team!

8 of the greatest young adults all dedicated to seeing the Ghat Lunch program happen. They have worked so hard for this program. I am excited to see them enjoy meeting the children of the Ghat school and realizing what a change they have helped make in these young lives.

The most important piece of this puzzle is all of you! A heart felt thanks goes out to each and every one of you and the difference you have made in your volunteering, donations and sharing of our events and endeavors. We can’t thank you enough.

This blog is for you. We wish we could take each and everyone of you with us to Nepal. This is a way to do that. I will be blogging as often as I can to share our experience. It is yours to enjoy also. After all, this wouldn’t have happened without your support!

Stay tuned! Enjoy this adventure with us.

Namaste 🙏🏻

Nepal Trek – May 8, 2016

As we trek through the Solo Khumbu, one thing that stands out to me is the young age of the porters carrying more than their weight up the mountains. My heart breaks for the young girls and boys, not attending school. That is a privilege unknown to them. Their future, their life, holds no choices for them.  Young children I met a few years ago, are now on the mountains doing unimaginable dangerous work to earn a living.

Nepal Trek – May 7, 2016

As I sit a think about my friends in the Khumbu, my thoughts go back to our time here last year. Everything including the human spirit in crumbles before us. So many tears that are rarely shed in this part of the world. So many warm embraces to cushion the blow that was given. I left in the midst of it, giving me a different view of this precious place and people.
